U.S. Rep. Justin Amash (R) – 3rd Congressional District

jamashBarry, Calhoun, Ionia, Kent and Montcalm counties

Notes: While conservative, Amash is also seen as a Libertarian-leaning Republican who has shown an interest in online privacy. He sometimes bucks Republican leadership and has taken verbal shots at Trump.

On repealing the Affordable Care Act: “The first step to fix our broken health care system is to repeal the unconstitutional health care legislation enacted in the 111th Congress. That legislation raises taxes, dramatically increases the national debt, harms small businesses, and permits taxpayer funding of abortions. I am an original cosponsor of H.R. 2, which would repeal the legislation and which passed the House on March 30, 2011.

After repealing the 111th Congress’s legislation, we can begin implementing reforms that introduce patient-centered principles into health care and reduce the cost of care. Worthwhile reforms include permitting individuals to claim the same tax credit for health care that is currently provided to employers, allowing insurance companies to sell across state lines, and increasing the availability of health savings accounts.”
